CITY OF LOS ANGELES YOUTH COUNCIL (LAYC)
SPONSORED BY THE COMMISSION FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES

VISION STATEMENT:

We are youth who understand the importance of civic responsibility and participation in local government. Youth issues are community issues. As active participants in the Youth Council, we are empowered to be positive agents of change in the community by giving voice and representation to youth-related issues.

Through mentoring, educational workshops and hands-on experience, we are engaging in policy creation, solution driven leadership, and community interaction. Through mutual respect, youth and adults work in partnership to achieve shared goals.

We are strong, principled leaders who understand the power of cultural diversity through relationship building. By creating an environment of open and honest communication, we are fostering personal growth and increasing team building skills. We are "preparing leaders for today."

MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of the Los Angeles City Youth Council is to represent and advocate on behalf of the youth in the City of Los Angeles and to encourage youth involvement in community and city government.
